MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's ice hockey scored all three of its goals in the second period to defeat visiting Suffolk University 3-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday night at St. George's.

THREE STARS:

  1. Salve sophomore Kohl Reddy made 11 saves to improve to 2-0-0 in net for the Seahawks.
  2. Salve sophomore Damon Zimmer scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 17:20 of the second period and added an assist.
  3. Salve freshman Matthew Brunton started the Seahawks scoring with his first career goal at 2:33 of the second period, then assisted on Zimmer's goal.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Seth Benson scored in transition at 19:09 of the second for back-to-back goals to close out the period for the Seahawks.
  • Salve Regina outshot Suffolk 26-12.
  • The Seahawks went 2-for-5 on the powerplay while the Rams were 0-for-8 on the man advantage.
  • Senior netminder Cal Wilcox made 23 saves for the visitors to fall to 0-2-0 between the pipes.
  • The Rams lone goal was supplied by Nick Lachaine who ripped home a loose puck from the slot at 5:31 of the second to even the score 1-1.
