MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team defeated No. 12 Curry College 5-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday night for its fifth straight win.

- Salve Regina freshman Damon Zimmer (Camrose, Alta.) had a hand in four goals, scoring twice and assisting on two others.
- Salve Regina sophomore Seth Benson (Moorhead, Minn.) posted a career-best four assists.
- Salve Regina junior Mitch Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) scored twice and had two assists. His first goal at 18:18 of the first proved to be the game-winner.
Turning Point
The Seahawks led 3-2 after a back-and-forth first period which saw three lead changes. The Seahawks started the second by killing off a penalty then scored two goals 20 seconds apart from Spencer Stanley (Green Oak, Mich.) and Walinski at 5:42 and 6:02 to make it 5-2. The Colonels went on a major powerplay shortly afterwards but were held scoreless during the five-minute advantage as well another minor powerplay later in the period. The Salve Regina defense killed of nine total minutes of powerplay time in the second period to maintain a three-goal lead.
Quick Hits
- Timmy Kent (Parkland, Fla.) opened the scoring on the power play before Zimmer scored back-to-back goals to give Salve Regina a 2-1 lead at 11:09 of the first.
- Michael Snow (Medford, Mass.) cashed in another powerplay for the Colonels at 15:01 of the first to tie the game 2-2.
- Nicholas Latinovich (Vaugh, Ont.) made 32 saves to improve to 8-3-0 in net for the Seahawks.
- Oscar Wahlgren (Molndal, Sweeden) made 19 saves to fall to 0-1-0 in his first career start.
- The Colonels outshot the Seahawks 34-24.
- After starting 2-for-2 the Seahawks held the Colonels to 2-for-6 on the powerlpay.
