NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Hoon Kim (Calgary, Alta.) as its Rookie of the Week for men's ice hockey.

CCC Rookie of the Week - Kim egistered four points this week as Salve Regina swept Suffolk in its home-and-home CCC series. He had one helper in the opener on Friday (Dec. 3) as the Seahawks took a 3-0 win. He followed that up with his first career goal the next day to open the scoring. He tacked on another tally and had an assist on the go-ahead goal as Salve picked up the 4-3 victory. Saturday's game became his first career multi-goal and multi-point game.

Kim is the third straight Seahawk to win Rookie of the Week following Griffin Leonard (Winnipeg, Man.) and Seth Benson's (Moorhead, Minn.) selections the previous two weeks.

"Hoon comes to the rink every day to push himself and his teammates with his work ethic," said head coach Zech Klann. "He has an extremely high hockey-IQ and is a true student of the game. We're excited for him to get this honor and for the successes that all our rookies are finding right now. It's a testament to their character and willingness to work and improve every day."

Salve Regina (7-4-0, 6-2-0 CCC) travels to face Johnson & Wales (RI) on December 10, at 8 p.m., in a non-conference matchup.
