NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Seth Benson (Moorhead, Minn.) as its Rookie of the Week for men's ice hockey.

CCC Rookie of the Week - Benson recorded his first-career hat trick for Salve Regina in its 4-1 victory over Wesleyan on Sunday (Nov. 28). All three of his goals came in the second period with his first tally proving to be the game-winner. His final goal of the game came shorthanded late in the second stanza.

"Seth has an infectious work ethic," said head coach Zech Klann. "He approaches each game with a steady hand and purpose. It is exciting to see his hard work being recognized."

"Seth was involved in every aspect of the game against Wesleyan," said assistant coach Chris Davis. "His natural hat trick was earned from the unselfish play that he and his teammates produced Sunday. Seth is an athlete that perseveres and led his teammates with an outstanding effort and they were all rewarded with a quality result against a very talented Wesleyan team."

Salve Regina (5-4, 4-2 CCC) return to CCC action with a home-and-home series with Suffolk starting on Friday, December 3, in Boston. The Seahawks home game on Saturday, December 4, will also serve as the team's inaugural Mental Health Awareness Night.
