Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology men's ice hockey team led 3-0 in the second period and hung on for a 3-2 final versus Salve Regina University despite being outshot 14-1 in the third period in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday night.

Series and Streaks
The Leopards are 28-10-3 all-time and snap a four game losing streak in to the Seahawks.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Wentworth junior Kevin Ossbuth (Chester, N.J.) had a hand in every Leopard goal. Scoring on a penalty shot 13:52 into the first, and again 37 seconds later, before assisting on the Leopards final goal at 3:53 of the second.
  2. Wentworth senior Ryan Bonnvie (Falmouth, Maine) made 32 saves to collect his first win of the year (1-0-0) in net.
  3. Salve Regina freshman Damon Zimmer (Camrose, Alta.) scored his second of the season to get the Seahawks on the board at 17:53 of the second, and won a game-high 17 faceoffs.

Turning Point
Trailing 3-0 the Seahawks scored two goals 65 seconds after late in the second period to make it a one-score game at the break. First Zimmer punched home a shot from the point then Tyler Carangelo (Hamden, Conn.) converted on the powerplay at 18:58 of the second frame. A Wentworth penalty after the goal gave the Seahawks another shot on the man advantage, spanning the period break, but the Leopards penalty kill was able to withstand it. Salve Regina peppered shots on net in the third period, outshooting the Leopards 14-1 in the frame. Still trailing by one the Seahawks pulled the goalie with 1:43 remaining for the extra attacker, but were unable to find the equalizer and the Leopards hung on for their first CCC win of the season.
