Summary
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Behind 32 saves from senior goaltender Connor Rodericks (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) the Connecticut College men's ice hockey team defeated Salve Regina University 4-1 in non-conference action Saturday evening.

Series and Streaks
The Camels remain unbeaten in the all-time series and now lead 6-0.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Connecticut senior Connor Rodericks made 32 saves and improves to 5-4-0 in net.
  2. Connecticut freshman Kyle Shero (Westwood, Mass.) scored at 5:39 to put the Camels on top for good.
  3. Salve Regina freshman Mitch Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) opened the game's scoring at 5:49 of the first period.

Turning Point
After trailing 1-0 at the end of the first period the Camels put up three goals on the board in the second period to assume control of the game. First freshman Brett Moccia (Lake Forest, Ill.) tipped in a shot to tie the game 1-1 then Shero scored in transition 21 seconds later to give the Camels their first lead 5:39 into the period. Later in the second the Camels scored again when an errant pass found its way into the Seahawks open net on a delayed penalty. The goal was credited to senior Ryan Petti (Tewksbury, Mass.) as he was the last Camel to touch the puck on an earlier faceoff.

  • The Camels held a 35-33 advantage in shots.
  • The Seahawks had an opportunity to take control of the game early with a 5-on-3 powerplay but the Camels were able to weather the early storm and settle in to the game.
  • Connecticut College held Salve Regina to 0-for-6 on the power play while the Seahawks kept the Camels scoreless with the man advantage as well, going 0-for-5.
  • Louis-Felix St. Jean made 31 stops for the Seahawks to fall to 6-3-0 in net on the season.
