  • Prior to the contest between Salve Regina and Wentworth, the men's ice hockey team welcomes back its programs alums for HockeyFest 2014. The alums will participate in an alumni game.
  • The Seahawks also welcome the Newport Youth Hockey league to Saturday's contest. All members of the NYHL that come in their jerseys will get free admission to the game.
CAPTAINS
  • Juniors Scott McMenimenJohn Scorcia, and senior Alex Barr will handle the duties as captains this season. McMenimen and Scorcia are in their second year with a "C" on their jerseys while this is the first season for Barr. 
  • Joining McMenimen, Scorcia and Barr leading the team this season is senior David Watkins as an alternate captain.
WHAT'S UP NEXT 
  • Following Saturday's contest, the Seahawks get on the road for a three-game ECAC Northeast road trip.
  • The Seahawks head to Boston to take on Suffolk on Tuesday, Feb. 4 before heading to Curry on Saturday.

  • ... started a season with two wins? In 2005-06, Salve Regina opened with victories over Johnson & Wales and Framingham State.
  • ... started a season unbeaten through first three games? In 2007-08, Salve Regina opened with a win and a tie over this year's first two opponents (Franklin Pierce and Stonehill) before beating Framingham State in the third game of the season.

  • Salve Regina returns its top five scorers from a year ago in junior captain John Scorcia (30 points • 11g, 19a), sophomore Cameron Gaudet (25 points • 14g, 11a), junior Michael Naso (25 points • 10g, 15a), and sophomores Marc Biggs (24 points • 14g, 10a) and Peter Gintoli (24 points • 12g, 12a). 
  • Last season was the first time since 2003-04 that the Seahawk line featured at least five players with 20 or more points on the season.
  • Naso currently leads the team with 18 points (8g, 10a) on the season. 
  • Naso and Gaudet are tied with eight goals on the year to lead SRU. 
  • Naso is fourth in the league with four power play goals. 
  • Scorcia leads the league with two shorthanded goals.

ECAC NORTHEAST PRESEASON POLL
  • Salve Regina ranks second in the 2013-14 Eastern College Athletic Association (ECAC) Northeast preseason coaches' poll (54 points).
  • The Seahawks finished last year with a 5-7-2 mark in the conference to earn a No. 5 seed.
  • After defeating No. 4 Western New England in the opening round of the conference tournament, the Seahawks went on to upset No. 2 Nichols before falling to No. 1 Wentworth in the conference title game.
