NEWPORT, R.I. – Eight players from the Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team have been selected as members of the 2011-12 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast All-Academic Team, as announced by ECAC commissioner Rudy Keeling. The Seahawks are represented on the team by senior Isaiah Carlson (Cooper Center, Alaska), junior Mike Cenisio (Milan, Italy), sophomore Chase Davis (Weathersford, Texas), senior Henry DeSimone (Burlington, Mass.), junior William Gomolinski (Western Springs, Ill.), junior Mike McDonald (Whitby, Ontario), sophomore Curtis McKeon (West Haven, Conn.), and sophomore Trey Rasmussen (Vineyard Haven, Mass.).

"We are very pleased with these results," says Salve Regina head coach Andy Boschetto."We always preach to our players to take pride in everything they do. That includes their performance on the ice, in the classroom, and in the community."

Student-athletes must have completed a minimum of one academic year at their institution, while also compiling a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale to be eligible for this honor. With just 16 non-freshman players on the roster, the Seahawks placed 50% of their eligible student-athletes on the All-Academic Team.

In total, 61 student-athletes representing all eight member institutions were selected to the ECAC Northeast All-Academic Team.
