NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University freshman Chad Goodwin (Whitinsville, Mass.) has been announced as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Rookie of the Week. This is the second time that Goodwin has earned the award during his freshman campaign.

Goodwin led the Salve Regina offense with four goals this week, and currently ranks third among all ECAC Northeast freshmen with 13 goals on the season.

The rookie forward snapped a 2-2 tie in the third period versus Stonehill on Wednesday by scoring three goals in less than five minutes, earning a natural hat trick in the process.  He gave the Seahawks the lead with a power play goal at the 7:07 mark of the final period, and then put the game away with a pair of even-strength markers at 8:41 and 11:55, sealing the 5-2 win.

Goodwin also scored the Seahawks' lone goal during a 3-1 loss versus Western New England.

Goodwin and the Seahawks are currently one game out of the final playoff spot, and will need to close out the season with victories over Becker and Wentworth to earn an postseason berth. Salve Regina will host Becker on Friday (7 p.m.) before celebrating Senior Night versus Wentworth on Saturday (7 p.m.).
