NEWPORT, R.I. (December 11, 2018) - Junior forward Hasani Williams scored 12 of his team-high 18 points in the second half to lead Mitchell College (4-3) to a come-from-behind 80-70 victory over Salve Regina University (4-6) in non-league men's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • Senior Kevin Mannix and junior Andrew Bronstein are serving as captains for head coach Sean Foster in his 17th season.
  • Salve Regina sophomore Kevin Kelly went 12-of-21 from the floor including two 3-pointers and two free throws for a game-high 28 points against Mitchell. The previous Saturday on the road at Worcester State University, Kelly had a career-high 29 points in a Seahawk win.
  • Kelly had 10 points at the half as Salve Regina led by five (37-32).
  • Mikey Spencer (11) and Cameron Collins (14) also finished in double-figure scoring for the Seahawks.
  • Kelly had a career-high nine steals.
  • Three Seahawks finished with five rebounds apiece - Collins, Jonathan Friberg, and Andrew Bronstein.
  • All six losses for Salve Regina have been by double-digit margins.
  • The Seahawks are 1-3 at home this season.
  • Salve Regina averages 5.8 made 3-pointers per game in 2018-19.
  • The Seahawks are hosting an opponent in a first-ever meeting for the second time this season - last time was Newbury College on Sat., December 1.

  • Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun notched his 880th career victory last time out for the Blue Jays, an 85-62 win against Rockford University as part of the Daytona Beach Shootout.
  • Freshman guard Chris Childs scored a game-high 22 points (7-17 FG, 6-7 FT) and grabbed seven rebounds. It was his fifth 20-point game of the season.
  • Freshman forward Noreaga Davis finished one point shy of a double-double for the second time in three games (9 PTS, 10 REBS).
  • Freshman guard Ryan O'Neill scored 12 points off the bench. Senior forward Tony Diemer (Rockford, Ill.) led the Regents (4-7) with 17 points, five rebounds and three steals.
  • Five different Blue Jays have earned five of the six Rookie of the Week honors in their first season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), and they have yet to play a league game (1. Ryan O'Neill, USJ; 2. Chris Childs, USJ; 3. Nadir Dixon-Thompson, USJ; 4. Delshawn Jackson Jr., USJ; 5. Terrence Harvey Jr., CSC; 6. Noreaga Davis, USJ).
  • Davis helped the Blue Jays pick up their sixth win of the season, 65-55, over Castleton on Saturday, December 15, at home in USJ's lone game of the week. The 6-4 product finished with nine points (3-6 FG) and a game-high 10 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass, in 27 minutes of floor time.
  • Calhoun's first Blue Jays roster features 17 freshmen, two sophomores, and one junior - the latter three all transfers.
