NEWPORT, R.I. - University of New England improves to 8-4 with an 85-68 win against Salve Regina University at the Rodgers Recreation Center in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketbal action.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks own a 13-10 advantage in the all-time series. Nor'easters have won three straight meetings including a sweep of last season's series.

Three Stars of the Game
1 – UNE senior Devin Thompson (Winthrop, Mass.) - scored 20 points including four of the Nor'easters' 13 3-pointers.
2 – Salve Regina junior Nicholas Bates (Danvers, Mass.) - had a double-double by halftime and finished with team-high 20 points and 14 rebounds.
3 – UNE sophomore Gavin Dibble (Greenport, N.Y.) - came off the bench to score 20 points including a perfect seven-for-seven from the free throw line.

Nor'easters made 46.4 percent of their 3-point attempts (13-for-28).

Turning Point
The first half featured one tie and three lead changes. After a dunk from Nicholas Bates at 13:16 mark in first, freshman Daron Hoges Jr. hit his team's third trey of the game to start a 16-8 run for the Nor'easters. Salve Regina got within five in the second half (43-38 at 17:44 following a Bates' jumper), but a 16-6 run pushed the Nor'easters' into double digits for rest of game.
