NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University junior guard Isiah Pringle (Queens, N.Y.) made 50 percent of his field goal attempts, including 6-of-12 from behind the arc, to lead the host Seahawks to a 70-57 victory over University of New England. Pringle had a team-high 22 points while Nor'easter freshman guard Devin Thompson (Winthrop, Mass.) bested all players with 24 points in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) meeting.

The Seahawks (4-1; 2-0 CCC) controlled the game from the outset as freshman Doug Henton (New London, Conn.) scored eight of the team's first 10 points, making two 3-pointers during that stretch. Junior Joshua Hohlfelder (Noank, Conn.) also drained a 3-pointer before Pringle hit his first triple at the 11:47 mark in the first. Pringle's 3-pointer gave Salve Regina its first double-digit lead, 18-8, which it maintained the remainder of the game.

Pringle's 3-pointer with 15:10 left in the second half gave Salve Regina its largest lead of the game, 51-27. The Seahawks led by 20 points (60-40) with 9:06 remaining before University of New England (1-6; 0-2 CCC) went on a 13-3 run to close within 10 points with 4:34 left.

Senior William Smiley (Saunderstown, R.I.) and Pringle sandwiched threes around a Jeff Bielefeld (Littleton, Mass.) free throw while Thompson and Charles Fenner III (Bronx, N.Y.) both had solo baskets down the stretch to finish the scoring.

Smiley and Hohlfelder finished in double-figure scoring with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Bielefeld led Salve Regina off the boards with six rebounds while Jesse Dykstra (Douglas, Mass.) topped all players with 11 caroms.

Salve Regina hosts Rhode Island College in a non-league game on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. while the Nor'easters finish their December schedule with an in-state game at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
