NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's basketball graduate student Jabreche Boyd (West Haven, Conn.) has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Player of the Week. Last week, junior Erin Phillips (Morristown, N.J.) garnered the same honor for the Salve Regina women's basketball team.

Boyd averaged 30.5 points and 5.5 rebounds to help the Seahawks (2-15, 1-4 The Commonwealth Coast Conference) post a 1-1 record last week. He began the week by drilling seven three-point field goals en route to scoring 26 points and snaring five rebounds in an 84-70 win over Nichols on Wednesday. Three days later, he poured in a career-high 35 points in a loss to Western New England. He netted 27 of those points in the second half, knocked down three three-pointers, and drained 14-of-19 of his free throw attempts. He finished the week shooting 58 percent (17-of-29) from the field, 71 percent (17-of-24) from the charity stripe, and 50 percent (10-of-20) from behind the arc.

On the season, Boyd is averaging 17.3 ppg, which is tops on the team and ranks him fourth in the conference. He also sits fourth in three-pointers made (42) and ninth in three-point field goal percentage (39.3 pct.) in the conference. Earlier this week, Boyd garnered TCCC Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Philips, meanwhile, averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.5 blocked shots and 2.5 steals per game as the Seahawks (9-7, 4-1 TCCC) won a pair of games, earning her TCCC Player of the Week honors as well. Her top performance came in the Seahawks' 62-48 victory over Anna Maria, as Phillips poured in a career-high 31 points on 13-of-18 shooting to go with eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Earlier that week, Phillips turned in a 19-point, seven-rebound effort in Salve Regina's 64-53 win over Fitchburg State. She added four assists, three steals and a pair of blocked shots. Over the two victories, Phillips shot 63 percent from the field (22-of-25), 60 percent from three-point range (3-of-5) and 75 percent from the line (3-of-4). This season, Phillips leads TCCC in scoring at 18.3 ppg and is second in blocked shots (27) and fourth in steals at 3.2 spg.

The Seahawks return to action Thursday night as they travel to Wentworth for a TCCC showdown. The doubleheader begins with the women's game at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 7:30 p.m.
