MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (October 16, 2019) - Salve Regina University field hockey equalled its all-time record for consecutive home victories (nine) after posting a 9-1 final over visiting Johnson & Wales University in non-league action at Gaudet Field.

The Seahawks (9-4) scored five first half goals, including three in the first quarter, by the top two scorers in the Commonwealth Conference (CCC) - sophomore Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.) with three, and senior Ashley Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) with two. Timms added her fourth of the game (and 21st of the season) in the third quarter, while Tori Bickel (Harleysville, Pa.) scored her fourth and fifth goals of the year to give Salve Regina an 8-0 lead.

The Wildcats (4-10) spoiled the shutout after a series of penalty corners finally produced a score from freshman Mackenzie Wolf (Reistertown, Md.). Junior Taylor Bulis (Lakeville, Mass.) finished the scoring with her second goal of the season in the final minute.

Both teams utilized a pair of goalkeepers - junior Grace Pendergast (Berlin, Mass.) started for Johnson & Wales and was relieved by freshman Madison Flaxington (Lincoln, R.I.), while freshman Casey
Febus (Souderton, Pa.) worked three quarters for the Seahawks before sophomore Olivia Butler (Sandy Hook, Conn.) finished the final period.

The 2004 Seahawk field hockey squad posted nine consecutive home wins (Sept. 8 to Oct. 28) before falling in the CCC semifinals to Endicott College on its Lawrence Avenue field, 1-0. The Gulls arrive in Middletown on Saturday for a regular-season meeting on turf at noon. Salve Regina's current nine-game win streak at Gaudet Field includes a 2-0 win over Roger Williams on October 30, 2018.

Johnson & Wales hosts Rivier on Saturday (1 p.m.) in GNAC action.
