Summary
The Salve Regina University field hockey team scored the games first five goals, eventually defeating visiting Gordon College 5-1 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup on Saturday.

  1. Salve Regina senior Amber Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) scored twice in the first half to give the Seahawks a 2-0 halftime lead.
  2. Salve Regina freshman Tori Bickel (Harleysville, Pa.) scored twice to open the second half.
  3. Salve Regina senior Jessie Severino (Branford, Conn.) stopped seven of eight shots she faced to improve to 3-1 in goal for the Seahawks.

Turning Point
The Seahawks held a 2-0 halftime lead after control the majority of the first half. Gordon started the second frame strong with two shots on goal and a corner in the first five minutes. However they couldn't find the back of the net and the Seahawks responded with a flurry of chances of their own. The Seahawks had multiple shots in close and eventually Bickel converted on the fourth chance for her first goal of the afternoon. A minute and a half later she scored her second goal, jamming the ball home inside the left post, and past the boot of Scots keeper Julia Altman. Three minutes later Kaity Gannon (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) scored to complete a 3-0 Seahawk scoring run in a manner of four minutes, giving Salve Regina a 5-0 advantage.

  • The Scots finally broke through late in the game when Natalie Adamez (Westminister, Md.) scored her team leading sixth goal of the season with 6:31 left to play.
