DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced Smith College as the top seed in the 2015 ECAC Division III New England Field Hockey Championship.

This year's tournament features a four-team field, with two semifinals preceding the championship round. All games will take place on the campus of Smith College, located in Northampton, Mass.

In the semifinals on Nov. 14, Smith (11-9 overall divisional record) will take on fourth-seeded Wheelock College, who finished the season at 10-9. The other semifinal will feature Salve Regina (16-4), the tournament's No. 2 seed, against Anna Maria College (12-7).

Salve Regina made its first trip to the 2014 ECAC Division III New England Field Hockey Championships and defeated Anna Maria, 2-1, at Gaudet Field in Middletown, R.I. Marissa Gagnon (Smithfield, R.I.) scored both goals for the home team in the quarterfinal. The Seahawks later lost a semifinal match at Plymouth State University.

The Seahawks have an all-time mark of 11-4 against the AmCats and have won all six meetings under head coach Jennifer Foster (since 2006).

"We look forward to continuing our season and build on the success we have had this year," said Foster, whose program has won 30 games the last two seasons. "The ECACs gives our program another opportunity to play for a championship, something our team set out to do this season."

Salve Regina continues to rank among the national leaders in goals per game, currently second (4.50) behind NCAA participant Rhodes. The Seahawks are led in scoring by senior Abigail Tepper (Foxboro, Mass.) with her school-record 28 goals and 64 points.

The winner of each semifinal will advance to the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 15.
