MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Senior Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to spark the Nichols College field hockey team to a 4-0 victory over Salve Regina University during a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest at Gaudet Field on Saturday night. The loss drops the Seahawks to 5-10 overall and 1-7 in the conference, while the Bison improve to 8-6 on the season and 4-3 during CCC play.

The Bison didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, as Forand scored the game's first goal after just 1:12 of action to give Nichols a 1-0 lead.

Nichols expanded its lead to 2-0 when junior Barbara Roy (Springfield, Mass.) set up junior Emily Widdison in front of the box for the Bison's seond goal of the opening 10 minutes.

The score remained 2-0 as the two teams went into the break. The Seahawks held a 6-5 edge in penalty corners during the opening period, whilethe Bison compiled an 11-3 advantage in shots.

Forand pushed the NC lead to 3-0 with her second goal of the contest, redirecting  a pass from Roy in the 45th minute of play.

The Bison capped the scoring in the 56th minute when freshman Avery Orszulak (Springfield, Mass.) drove into the arc and delivered a pass to senior Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) who found the back of the box to seal the 4-0 win for the visitors.

Salve Regina freshman goalkeeper Murphy McCann (Westerly, R.I.) dd her best to keepte Seahawks inthe gam, making 13 saves on the nght.

Both teams return to CCC action at 3:30 on Tuesday, with the Bison hosting the University of New England and the Seahawks welcoming Gordon.
