Rams edge Seahawks, 2-1

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University field hockey team picked up their second straight win with a 2-1 non-conference victory over Salve Regina University this afternoon at Maple Street Field. With the win, the Rams even their record at 2-2 on the year, while the Seahawks are still in search of their first victory at 0-5.

 

The Rams held a 17-11 advantage in shots for the game, including a 14-3 edge in the second half. Framingham State goalie Allesha Kenyon (Westford, Mass.) picked up her second victory of the season making seven stops in the cage. Salve Regina netminder Natalie Balletta (Leominster, Mass.) made nine saves and was tagged with the loss.

 

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute on freshman forward Demi Miskiv's (Centerville, Mass.) first collegiate goal. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Rams heading into the half.

 

Just over six minutes into the second half, the Rams extended their lead to 2-0 on senior forward Kristen Sacco's (Mendon, Mass.) second unassisted tally of the season.

 

Salve Regina clawed its way back within one goal at the 52:07 mark of the second half as Sarah Bambury (Fairport, N.Y.) found senior Brittany Lopes (Lexington, Mass.) in the circle and Lopes connected for the Seahawks only goal in the game.

 

The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to Keene State for a Little East Conference showdown beginning at 1:30 p.m., while the Seahawks host Kean on September 16th at 7 p.m.
