Bio

Jones enters his first season at Salve Regina.

Khalid Jones had joined the Bucknell football staff as an assistant coach in August 2018. Jones, who had mentored the Bison cornerbacks, had also worked at Villanova University and Susquehanna University.

In his first season at Bucknell, Jones coached an All-Patriot League honoree in Bryan Marine, who finished among the national leaders in solo tackles per game.

Jones spent six off-season months on the Wildcat staff, serving as a defensive assistant coach. He came to Villanova from Susquehanna, where he was a defensive backs coach and an assistant special teams coordinator.

In 2017, his second of two campaigns on the Susquehanna staff, the River Hawks defeated Albright in the Centennial-MAC Bowl and posted an 8-3 record. They also led the Centennial Conference in total defense, pass defense and opponent first downs. They allowed an average of 277.4 yards per game, good for 24th in the NCAA Division III ranks.

At Susquehanna, Jones recruited in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and North Carolina. He mentored three All-Centennial Conference selections in Danial Shelton, Ryan Ganard and Terrell Brown, with Shelton also earning 2016 Rookie of the Year accolades.

Jones was a defensive back at Saint Francis (Pa.), graduating in 2015 with a B.S. in business management. Before embarking on his collegiate career, he was an All-Inter-Ac and All-Main Line defensive back/running back at Episcopal Academy.
