CCC Offensive Player of the Week: Joey Mauriello

NEWPORT, R.I. (September 27, 2021) - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University senior running back Joey Mauriello (Colts Neck, N.J.) as its Offensive Player of the Week for football (Sept. 20-26).

CCC Offensive Player of the Week - Mauriello had another record-setting performance for Salve Regina this week, as he rushed for 279 yards in the Seahawks' 50-35 victory over Rowan, setting a new school record. However, it wasn't just yards Mauriello was collecting as he was able to find the endzone three times, all in the fourth quarter. His first score, a 40-yard run early in the fourth, tied the game at 35 before the point-after gave the Seahawks their first lead of the game. He was able to tack on two more scores before the final whistle to help put the advantage out of reach. In addition to his 279 yards on the ground, Mauriello added two receptions for 46 yards, giving him 325 all-purpose yards on the day.

Salve Regina opens its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) slate with a road game against Western New England (2-2) on Saturday, October 2 at 1 p.m. (masks are required for spectators). Salve Regina has a 4-0 start to its season for the fifth time in 30 years of varsity football (1994, 4-0; 1996, 9-0; 2012, 7-0; 2016, 8-0).
