NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University football junior Andrew Verre (Wethersfield, Conn.) has won the Commonwealth Coast Football Special Teams Player of the Week award.

Verre was a perfect 5-for-5 on PATs in Salve Regina's 35-28 victory over Worcester State on Saturday (Sept. 2). He also had a strong punting game sending two crucial kicks and average of 60 yards, allowing the Seahawks to control the field position game. His first punt, a 64-yarder, left the Lancers on their on three-yard line, while his second just missed making a him a 2-for-2 on punts inside the 20 as it bounced out of bounds at the Worcester State 21.

The Seahawks (1-0) will next host Montclair State at 12 p.m. on Saturday in the team's newly renovated home at Toppa Field in Newport, R.I
