Grover wins DIII baseball Elite 90 Award

Brandon Grover receives the 2024 DIII baseball Elite 90 Award.

EASTLAKE, Ohio (Thursday, May 30, 2024)Salve Regina University baseball senior Brandon Grover (Ashland, Mass.) has received the 2024 DIII Baseball Elite 90 Award at the onset of the DIII College World Series, held at Classic Auto Group Park.

The Elite 90 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

With a cumulative GPA of 3.978 and a major in business administration Grover's hard work and dedication in the classroom and on the field continues to set an example at Salve Regina and on a national stage.

"Brandon is in the top 1% of student athletes I've ever coached," said head baseball coach Eric Cirella. "There is no one more deserving." 

In 2024 Grover has served as a baseball team captain and achieved the Salve Regina athletics Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Award in addition to the Habershaw Stewardship Award, which acknowledges student-athletes for exemplary sportsmanship. 

"Many of us within the Salve community know just how special a student-athlete Brandon Grover is," remarked athletic director Dr. Sean Sullivan. "However, after earning the Elite 90 award, a national honor, Brandon's success in the classroom, coupled with his team advancing to the World Series, makes him one of the finest student-athletes in the country. We are tremendously proud of Brandon and appreciative of all that he continues to provide our team, department, and university community. His commitment to doing things the right way is certainly unparalleled. He is deeply deserving of this accolade."

On the field for the Seahawks, Grover has appeared in 130 games. He has had over 400 at bats, 115 runs, 137 hits, 29 extra-base hits, 14 home runs, 90 RBIs and 47 stolen bases. Grover has accumulated a career on base percentage of .482, a batting average of .343 and a slugging percentage of .530.

Grover will continue to lead the team as they compete for the first time in program history at the DIII College World Series.
