NEWPORT, R.I. -- Salve Regina University baseball will travel to Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland to go up against the Sea Gulls in NCAA Super Regional action with games on Friday and Saturday, May 24-25. This marks the first time in program history the Seahawks have advanced past regional play.

The Sea Gulls come in at 32-10 overall. As a member of the Coast to Coast Athletic Conference, which also includes Christopher Newport University and the University of Mary Washington, Salisbury lost to the Mary Washington Eagles 10-5 in the C2C semifinals but received an at-large bid to the dance. The Sea Gulls were the top-ranked team in the Babson College regional. Salisbury beat UMass Dartmouth 7-0 in game one but fell to Mitchell College 5-1 in game four. This result sent Salisbury to the loser's bracket, in which Salisbury beat UMass Dartmouth a second time. The Sea Gulls then delivered two shutouts over the Mariners to advance as the Babson regional victor.

Salve Regina went 3-0 in the SUNY Cortland regional, beating Colby College 10-5, host Cortland 4-2 and Washington & Jefferson College 12-3. Salve Regina will enter the Super Regional with an overall record of 36-8. The Seahawks went 13-3 in the NEWMAC regular season but fell to Wheaton and Babson in the conference championship. Babson earned the NEWMAC automatic qualifier and the Seahawks advanced to the NCAAs with an at-large bid.

This will be the second meeting of the Seahawks and Sea Gulls in baseball, and first since a 2016 regional elimination game in Moosic, Pennsylvania, with Salisbury surviving with a 5-3 win (May 19, 2016). Games will take place at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium. Fans may purchase tickets online prior to the date of competition or at the gate on the day of the game. The winner of the Super Regional will advance to the eight-team double-elimination championship bracket at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio on May 31-June 6.
