Athlete of the Week - HUNTER YAWORSKI

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending April 14, 2024, and Salve Regina University graduate student Hunter Yaworski (Brooklyn, Conn.) has been selected as the Athlete of the Week for baseball.

Yaworski wielded a hot bat in a 3-1 week for the Seahawks with seven hits in 13 at bats (.538), including five for extra bases. His 1.230 slugging percentage included three doubles and two home runs, the first dinger coming in a pinch-hit appearance in a Sunday sweep of Babson. Yaworski hit safely in all four games and made those hits count with runners on base as he drove in seven runs on the week. His leadoff home run in the fifth inning of game two against the Beavers broke a 5-5 tie that led to the sweep with an 8-5 final.

"In a week we really needed to win our NEWMAC games, Hunter was as clutch as they come," said Seahawk head coach Eric Cirella '05. "He had extra base hits from foul line to foul line and was a clutch hitter/RBI machine in every game we played. He's fun to watch grind out ABs day in and day out. And I hope he continues to come up with big knocks."

Salve Regina (21-4, 8-1 NEWMAC) hosts Clark University on Tuesday afternoon before hitting the road to play Rhode Island College on Thursday.
