Warriors score five unanswered runs to end Seahawk win streak at 13

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (Wednesday, March 27, 2024) - #8 Salve Regina University baseball had its win streak halted at 13 games after suffering a 6-3 loss at Eastern Connecticut State University in non-league action at Eastern Baseball Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The teams combined for 10 errors in the field. After Hank Penders tied the score at 3-3 with a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, the Warriors scored the go-ahead run on a sac fly in the seventh and added two unearned runs in the eighth for the 6-3 final.
Michael Breen (Auburn, Mass.) started the scoring with an RBI single to center field in the third that plated Tyler Petrosino (Beverly, Mass.). After the Warriors got even in the bottom of the third on an RBI ground out, Wil McCarthy (Pembroke, Mass.) broke the tie with a single to left field that scored Evan O'Rourke (Arlington, Mass.). Hunter Yaworski (Brooklyn, Conn.) boosted the lead to 3-1 when he doubled in Christian Homa (Fairfield, Conn.) in the top of the sixth.

All-Time Series: Eastern Connecticut extends its lead in the all-time series to 8-4, while neither team has had consecutive wins since 2017. Salve Regina won last year, 13-6, in Newport while the Warriors were the defending NCAA Division III national champions (2022).
