D3BASEBALL.COM RELEASE

NEWPORT, R.I. (January 18, 2024) -- Salve Regina University infielder Christian Homa (Fairfield, Conn.) has been named to the 2024 D3baseball.com Preseason All-America First Team.

Homa earned First Team All-America honors in his first season with the Seahawks last year. Salve Regina (39-10-1 in 2023) advanced to an NCAA regional final for the second consecutive year while setting a program record for most wins in a season. Salve Regina finished undefeated (20-0) in games played at its home site, Reynolds Field.

Homa's offensive exploits were a key factor in the team's success, home and away, including establishing program bests for individual hits in a season (75) and runs batted in (59). His hits mark surpassed his head coach, Eric Cirella '05, who established the previous record (71) in his senior year (2005) when the Seahawks captured a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship. Three times between then and last year, Cirella-coached Seahawks had come one hit shy (70) on eclipsing the single-season mark -- Zach Smith (twice, 2016 and 2019) and Dylan Ketch (2019).

In 46 games played in 2023, the lefty hitter drove in a school record 59 runs while collecting multi-hit games 22 times. He surpassed the previous RBI mark (58) set by Alex Perry in his first-year campaign of 2015. Homa led the Seahawks in batting average (.472), on-base percentage (.538), and slugging percentage (.667) while sharing the team-high in runs scored (55) with Matt D'Amato (Midland Park, N.J.).
