Jeffries Earns CCC Pitcher of the Week Honors for Week Three Performance

NEWPORT, R.I. -- Graham Jeffries (Chelmsford, Mass.) was nominated as pitcher of the week within the Commonwealth Coast Conference for his magnificent performance against Husson University in the 3-0 win.

In his start on Saturday, March 18, Jeffries pitched eight full innings as he struck out eight hitters and walked just one. When head coach Eric Cirella took the baseball from Jeffries for the ninth inning, Jeffries had allowed just one-hit across eight scoreless frames against the Eagles of Husson University. A one-hit shutout is surely impressive, and Jeffries earned the Pitcher of the Week honors.

Jeffries is a senior at Salve Regina University, a graduate from Chelmsford High School who has found great success in his baseball career here at Salve. As a senior captain, Jeffries has displayed leadership in his preparation and poise on the mound as well as in the dugout, encouraging other teammates in their preparation for dominance. Jeffries has also had bouts in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League and the New England Collegiate Baseball League with various clubs. With 95 career strikeouts at Salve, Jeffries will likely break 100 in his next start, as he averages six Ks per start this season.

The Seahawks face off against Roger Williams, Trinity, as well as in a doubleheader with conference foe Endicott in the upcoming week. The Seahawks look forward to continuing their winning ways.
