NEW LONDON, Conn. (Thursday, May 20, 2021) - Salve Regina University lefty Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) pitched a complete-game three-hitter while striking out six to lead the Seahawks to a 4-1 win over Mitchell College in the opener of a twinbill at Alumni Field.

Maybach improved to 3-0 on the season while his counterpart, senior righty Roland Thivierge (Portland, Conn.) suffered his first defeat of the year (7-1).

The Mariners took a 1-0 lead when Dougie DelaCruz (Uncasville, Conn.) opened the bottom of the fourth with a solo blast to left center. After a ground out, Anthony Laureano (Emerson, N.J.) laced a double down the right field line before Maybach got a line out and a strike out to minimize the damage.

Senior outfielder Zach Barlok (Cheshire, Conn.) brought Brandon Grover (Ashland, Mass.) home with the tying run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth. Later in the same frame, pinch-hitter Sean O'Malley (Darien, Conn.) put the Seahawks ahead with a single to center to score Wil McCarthy (Pembroke, Mass.).

Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) doubled to open the Seahawk sixth and advanced to third on a flyout to center by Tyler Cannoe (Schenectady, N.Y.). A passed ball gave Salve Regina a 3-1 lead. The Seahawks added another insurance run in the seventh when Tyler Petrosino (Beverly, Mass.) tripled home Michael Breen (Auburn, Mass.). Maybach retired the last seven batters he faced including three of his six strikeouts.
