MILTON, Mass. (Sunday, March 28, 2021) - Salve Regina University baseball sophomore starting pitcher Joe Escandon (Allenhurst, N.J.) pitched 6.2 innings and allowed just two runs (in the first) on four hits while striking out six batters to lead the Seahawks to a 4-2 win in the opener of a doubleheader at Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action. Junior righty reliever Holden Ferrari (Dover, Mass.) threw two pitches before picking off a Colonel runner on second base to nail down the save and preserve the victory.

In Game Two, Salve Regina (3-0, 3-0 CCC) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on a Sean O'Malley (Darien, Conn.) double to center field that plated Michael Breen (Auburn, Mass.) and Anthony Cieszko (Franklin Lakes, N.J.). The Colonels cut the deficit in half with an unearned run in the bottom of the frame. Matt D'Amato (Midland Park, N.J.) led off the fourth with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Chris Veneruso (Westport, Conn.), and later scored on a Cieszko single. Cieszko and Breen scored again in the top of the fourth on RBI hits from Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) and O'Malley, respectively.

Zach Dionne (Tolland, Conn.) worked five innings and left the mound with a 6-2 Seahawk advantage before play was halted due to rain. The Seahawks and Colonels will resume the halted game on Wednesday (1 p.m.) in front of a regularly scheduled home game at Salve Regina on Reynolds Field. No spectators are allowed, but the games will feature live video stream and live box score.
