Salve Regina
Western New Eng.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 4, 2019) -- Salve Regina University baseball won a pair of one-run games in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) and forced an "if necessary" game in the Pod A Final with Western New England University. Sophomore Dustin Siqueira (Trumbull, Conn.) ripped a walk-off single to right field to score Jared Beniers (Abington, Mass.) from second base in a 4-3 win that eliminated Nichols College. Senior Will Ginsberg (Sharon, Mass.) pitched his second complete game of the season (of his career as well) as the Seahawks defeated the Golden Bears, 3-2, in the afternoon meeting.
Ginsberg went nine innings for the second straight Saturday allowing just four hits and two earned runs. He did not walk a batter until the ninth inning when he loaded the bases including his third free pass intentionally with one out. Ginsberg got a double-play grounder to end the game.
