NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Riley Fusaro (Nantucket, Mass.) as its player of the week for baseball (March 27 - April 2).

Player of the Week  - Fusaro collected four hits in a doubleheader sweep of in-state CCC foe Roger Williams, including a run-scoring walkoff single in the Seahawks' 1-0 victory in the opener.  Earlier in the week, Fusaro notched two hits in a 7-4 victory over Framingham State. In three games for the No. 26-ranked Seahawks, Fusaro batted .667 (6-for-9) and posted a weekly on-base percentage of .727.

"Riley came up big for us this past weekend and did a great job barreling up the ball in big spots, including his game-winning knock," fourth-year head coach Eric Cirella commented. "The backstory of the kid is even better. We made some adjustments with him at the plate and he has really looked outstanding and even more comfortable at the plate. It isn't always that cut and dry when you try to make in-season changes with someone. But Riley, without hesitation, worked at it and has completely bought in to what we were trying to do. He is another weapon in the mix now and I couldn't be happier that he is finding success."

Defending conference champion Salve Regina (13-3, 4-0 CCC) remains at No. 2 in the region with the release of the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) poll.
