SALVE REGINA IN THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • The Seahawks have won seven (7) Commonwealth Coast Conference baseball championships since entering as a charter member; titles in 1985, 1991-1994, 2001, and 2005.
  • Salve Regina's four-year string of titles from 1991 to 1994 was only matched (and surpassed) by five in a row from Western New England University (2008 to 2012).
  • Salve Regina has also reached the finals on five other occasions - 1996, 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2007.
  • These two teams met in the finals two other times - Salve Regina won the matchup in 2001 on Reynolds Field, and two years later Endicott won 13-10 at Cardines Field (both in Newport).

HOW THEY GOT HERE
Endicott has gone unbeaten in three games. The Gulls opened with a 28-4 (yes, 28) win against Gordon last Thursday. Next day, Endicott survived a ninth-inning, three-run rally to hold on for a 6-5 victory over Salve Regina. In a matchup of undefeated teams on Monday, Endicott defeated Western New England, 9-2, to advance to championship round.

Salve Regina won its postseason opener on the road at Nichols, 8-3, before suffering the 6-5 setback at Endicott. Weather forced postponements and allowed the Seahawks to host the Colonels on Sunday, and Salve Regina eliminated Curry College, 12-6, on Reynolds Field. On Tuesday, Salve Regina traveled to Western New England and defeated the Golden Bears for the first time in the last 18 tries (since 2010) with a final score, 9-1.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY

  • Salve Regina split the regular-season meetings with Endicott in Beverly, Mass., on April 24, 2016.
  • The Seahawks fell to the Gulls, 6-5, in second day action of the 2016 CCC Baseball Championships.
