NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Colton Eremian (Boca Raton, Fla.) as its Rookie of the Week for baseball (March 28 - April 3).

Rookie of the Week – Eremian batted .429 this week with a pair of RBI and two runs scored. He did most of his damage against Framingham State on Wednesday (March 30) as he homered and scored two runs as the Seahawks won, 13-7.

"Colton was outstanding offensively the past week," said Seahawk head coach Eric Cirella. "He seems like he gets better every time he plays. Offensively, he is at his best when he is locked into a good approach, trying to stay in the middle of the field. He has a knack for hammering mistakes in the gap and over the fence; hopefully this trend continues. The sky is the limit for him; just a kid with a ton of tools who will be very dangerous when he can put them all together on a consistent basis."

Salve Regina (5-7; 0-0 CCC) finished the week 1-1 after falling in extra innings at regional power Eastern Connecticut State University. The Seahawks return to action on the road Wednesday, April 6, at UMass Dartmouth (3:30 p.m.) before hosting Rhode Island College on Thursday at Reynolds Field (3:30 p.m.). Salve Regina opens its conference slate against Nichols on Saturday; athletic director Jody Mooradian will throw out the first pitch.

The Seahawks have won all three baseball awards this season: Player (John Militano - March 28), Pitcher (Cory Poplawski - March 28), and now Rookie (Colton Eremian - April 4).
