NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore John Militano (Miller Place, N.Y.) as its Player of the Week for baseball (March 21-27).

Player of the Week – Militano crossed the plate 13 times in seven games during the Seahawks spring break trip. The sophomore also swiped nine bases without being caught. He hit in every game except one and finished strong with a pair of multi-hit games against Bowdoin to close out the week. Militano bookended his trip with his two strongest performances. He started the week with four stolen bases and four runs scored in a 9-2 win over Southern Maine. He then closed out the week with his best performance at the plate going 5-for-6 with three doubles and three RBI. He also scored three runs and swiped two bags. For the week, he batted .414 (12-for-29) with 13 runs scored and five RBI.

Mili was so much fun to watch last week," said Seahawk head coach Eric Cirella. "When he gets on top of the baseball and stays in a good approach he is amazing. He can speed up the game on other teams. John also creates so much offense by just getting on base. He gets other hitters better pitches to hit because opposing pitchers are so worried about him running and was really our top catalyst offensively as our Florida trip was coming to a close."

Salve Regina (4-6; 0-0 CCC) finished the week winning three of its last four games including a sweep of the Polar Bears while outscoring Bowdoin, 25-5, over two days. The Seahawks return to action back home on Reynolds Field when they host Framingham State University on Wednesday, March 30, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
