SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Salve Regina's run at the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference baseball championship was cut short as the Seahawks fell to Endicott, 13-0, Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Sean Healy (Wakefield, R.I.) pitched himself out of trouble in the top of the first to keep the Gulls off the scoreboard in the first. Junior Nicholas Dell'Anno (Reading, Mass.) got the Seahawks first hit of the game, two-out single through the right side but Salve Regina was not able to capitalize and the score remained knotted, 0-0 after the first inning and a half.

The Gulls took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second on two hits and a pair of walks and a hit batter. Junior Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) led off the inning with a triple to deep right center. After a pair of free passes loaded the bases, sophomore Harry Oringer (Dartmouth, Mass.) walked in the Gulls first run of the game. Senior Brett Holmgren (Middleboro, Mass.) followed with a single to right center to bring two more runners home and give Enicott the early lead.

The Gulls threatened in the bottom of the third to add to their lead as they put two runners on with just one out, but Healy got a strikeout and fly ball to freshman Ryan Kelly (Waldwick, N.J.) in center to end the frame and keep the score, 3-0.

Endicott added to its lead however, in the bottom of the fourth with four runs on three hits and a costly Seahawk error to take a 7-0 advantage after four innings.

Junior Anthony Conte (Georgetown, Mass.) drew a two-out walk in the fifth but once again the Seahawks were unable to bring him home and the score remained 7-0.

Endicott took a 12-0 lead after the sixth inning with three more in the fifth and a pair of runs in the sixth to essentially put the game away for the Gulls.

With two outs in the top of the eighth, junior Tyler Colby (Easton, Conn.) and sophomore Joe Haley (North Kingston, R.I.) roped back-to-back singles for Salve Regina but the Gells pitcher got a friendly groundball to end the frame and turn Salve Regina away.

The Gulls plated their final run in the top of the eighth as senior Ralph Fidaleo (Fairfield, Conn.) come home on an RBI-single from freshman Corbin Hyde (Lewiston, Maine) to bring the score to its final, 13-0.

Healy took the loss for Salve Regina in the final game of the 2013 season while Haley led the Seahawks at the plate with a pair of hits.

Salve Regina ends the 2013 campaign with a  29-12 record after advancing to the championship round of the CCC tournament.
