Haley nabs second Rookie of the Week award

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University freshman Joe Haley (North Kingstown, R.I.) has been announced as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week by commissioner Gregg Kaye on Tuesday morning. This marks the second time this season that Haley has earned the award.
The freshman second baseman batted .500 with a .929 slugging percentage over five games last week, compiling two doubles, two triples, two runs scored, and eight runs batted in. Haley sparked the Seahawks to a CCC doubleheader sweep over Gordon, going 4-for-7 including a double and a pair of bases clearing triples. He finished the day with two runs scored and seven runs batted in.
Haley is enjoying a strong freshman campaign, leading the Seahawks in both triples (3) and walks (16), while also ranking among the top three on the team in hits (37), doubles (8), runs batted in (18), batting average (.343), and slugging percentage (.472).
Haley and the Seahawks have earned the #6 seed in the CCC Baseball Championship tournament, and will travel to face #1 Western New England at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
