Bursie's no-no earns him TCCC Pitcher of the Week honors
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Brandon Bursie (Smithfield, R.I.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Bursie tossed the second complete-game, no-hitter in Seahawk history in the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader at Curry. In seven innings of work, Bursie fanned 13 Colonels as the Seahawks rolled to a 17-0 win. Earlier in the week, he allowed two runs in a predetermined two-inning appearance at No. 12 Eastern Connecticut State.
On the season, Bursie is 2-3 with a 3.71 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 26.1 innings of work. He becomes the third Seahawk and second pitcher to garner TCCC honors this season. Two weeks ago, senior Pat Quinn (Middletown, N.J.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors, and last week senior Brendan Tapley (Narragansett, R.I.) was named both TCCC and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week.
The Seahawks (12-13, 8-4 TCCC) return to action on Wednesday when they travel to UMass Dartmouth for a 3:30 p.m. game.
