Silva garners TCCC Pitcher of the Week honors
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University junior pitcher Craig Silva (Marlborough, Mass.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Pitcher of the Week.
Silva picked up a win over Eastern Nazarene on April 19 and a save against Gordon on Saturday - two TCCC playoff teams - and also struck out 12 batters over eight scoreless innings of work as the Seahawks wrapped up the No. 5 seed in the upcoming TCCC Championship. Silva struck out 10 in a five-hit complete-game shutout over the Lions, and fanned two batters in one inning of work against the Fighting Scots.
On the season, Silva leads the team with seven wins against only one loss. He's struck out 38 batters in 38.1 innings of work and has walked just 12 all season.
The Seahawks (21-16, 12-10 TCCC) travel to Wenham, Mass., Tuesday afternoon for a 3 p.m. contest with Wentworth at Gordon College. The tournament is double-elimination format.
