NEWPORT, R.I. (November 22, 2021) - Giving thanks for having sports back!

LET'S GO, SEAHAWKS!

MONDAY (Nov. 22)
Join us for live conversation on our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitch, YouTube) as SeahawkTalk™ reboots in Season Four (5 p.m.) with co-hosts Kiely Callahan and Jeremy Gutierrez. The Seahawk seniors, members of women's lacrosse and baseball teams, respectively, welcome Morgan Shuey and head coach Cori Hughes from women's basketball, and then director of athletics Jody Mooradian and assistant director of athletics Derek Grinkin talk about the dinner with international student athletes.

TUESDAY (Nov. 23)
Salve Regina men's basketball (3-2) picked up two wins last week and two Seahawks reached milestones in each of those victories. Senior Mikey Spencer became the 40th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point milestone, and his game-high 23 points helped the Seahawks defeat the visiting Bears of the United States Coast Guard Academy, 73-70, last Tuesday at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Graduate student Kevin Kelly became the 41st player in school history to score 1,000 career points with his first two free throws on Saturday during a 103-76 win over visiting Fisher College. Graduate student Cameron Collins, already a member of that club, scored a game-high 30 points against the Falcons and earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week honors. The Seahawks tip-off against Connecticut College (7 p.m.) in New London before breaking for Thanksgiving.

Salve Regina women's ice hockey (1-5, 1-3 CCC) had a scrimmage versus Assumption University last Friday with a 6-3 final on the St. George's ice. Six different players scored for the Seahawks against the Greyhounds. The Seahawks faceoff against the Cardinals of Wesleyan University twice this week - Tuesday at 7 p.m. on their home ice [REMINDER: All spectators must show proof of vaccination and wear masks in the arena].

THURSDAY (Nov. 25)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

SATURDAY (Nov. 27)
Salve Regina women's basketball (1-4) hosts Eastern Nazarene College at 1 p.m. at the Rodgers Recreation Center. The Seahawks have won 74 percent of the 50 all-time meetings with the Lions (formerly known by the "Crusaders" moniker), and had a 26-game win streak between 2000 and 2015. The first Seahawk win came in 1993 (69-68) in Quincy when the then Crusaders were first-year members of the CCC; the last Seahawk win came in 2017 (67-55) in the last season for the now Lions in the same conference. When Eastern Nazarene won the last meeting (80-45) in Quincy in 2019, then senior Torie Scorpio scored her 1,000th career point in the contest (Nov. 30, 2019).

Salve Regina men's ice hockey (4-3, 4-2 CCC) drops the puck on Saturday against the Bantams of Trinity College (2 p.m.) in Hartford, Conn., and will complete a two-night stay in the Nutmeg State when the Seahawks faceoff against Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon (1 p.m.) in Middletown, Conn. The Seahawks are 1-3 all-time versus the Bantams with the lone win in their last meeting, 6-4, on Nov. 29, 2015.

SUNDAY (Nov. 28)
Same goes for the all-time series for the Seahawks against the Cardinals in men's ice hockey (1-3) while the lone win came the day before the triumph over the Bantams by a 5-4 score on Nov. 28, 2015Griffin Leonard looks to continue his upswing in play after recording his first career points in a 6-0 win at Wentworth last Friday, that led to his selection as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week.

Five hours after the Seahawks and Cardinals faceoff in men's ice hockey for the fifth time ever, Salve Regina and Wesleyan women's ice hockey meet for the second time in a span of five days (6 p.m.). The teams are even at seven wins apiece in 14 all-time meetings in women's ice hockey prior to this week.
