Seahawks land 119 on Academic All-Conference Team

ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE HISTORY

BIDDEFORD, Maine – A record-setting eight hundred seventy-four Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athletes were named to the league's Spring Academic All-Conference Team on Tuesday morning. The spring list includes participants from each of the CCC's member institutions who compete in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's golf, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's tennis, and men's and women's track and field.

In order to be recognized as a member of the Academic All-Conference Team an athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) and must also have attained sophomore academic status.

Among the honorees were five who were also named CCC Scholar-Athlete in their respective sports. Included in that group were four Roger Williams recipients with Brandon Jenkins (East Bridgewater, Mass.) taking the award in baseball, Brendan Whitten (Kennebunk, Maine) being honored in men's lacrosse, Tara Chatowsky (North Kingstown, R.I.) earning the honor in softball, and Siobhan Mitchell (West Newbury, Mass.) being selected in women's track and field. Will Jeffreys (Parkton, Md.) from Gordon, the CCC Scholar-Athlete in men's tennis, was also among this year's honorees.

Eleven of this spring's major award recipients are also adding Spring Academic All-CCC selections to their resumes. Six of those winners came from Endicott including baseball Defensive Player of the Year Bradley Baldinger (Massapequa, N.Y.), Golfer of the Year Nicholas Grimbilas (Strafford, N.H.), softball Player of the Year Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.), softball Pitcher of the Year Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.), women's lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year Maya Feigenbaum (West Hartford, Conn.), and women's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.). Roger Williams and Western New England also had multiple award winners honored. For the Hawks, men's tennis Player of the Year Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and softball Defensive Player of the Year Taylor Chatowsky (North Kingstown, R.I.) each earned selections. Meanwhile, WNE men's lacrosse teammates Mike Bannon (Edmond, Okla.) and Murphy Hartmann (Anthem, Ariz.) added 2021 Academic All-CCC selections to their respective Offensive Player of the Year and Short-stick Specialist of the Year awards. Gordon's Abigail Baier (Truckee, Calif.), this year's Track Athlete of the Year, was also recognized.

Among the honorees were 121 All-Conference selections. Fifty-two received First Team honors, 36 were Second Teamers, and 33 earned Third Team recognition.
