SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University placed 80 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference Spring Academic All-CCC Team, second-most in the conference, including junior Kerri Beland (No. Attleboro, Mass.) who represented the Seahawks on two sports (women's basketball and women's lacrosse).

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Alex Perry (North Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomores Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) and Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) have been named to the Rawlings All-New England Region Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA).

NEWPORT, R.I. - Western New England University junior Joe Cassella (Wallingford, Conn.) crossed the plate with the championship-winning run just 17 minutes into the resumption of a 6-6, 12-inning game from Friday evening, as the Golden Bears captured their sixth Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) baseball title, and first since 2012, with a 7-6 final in 12 innings to complete a sweep of the best-of-three series with Salve Regina University at Reynolds Field.

The Seahawks (24-13, 12-4 CCC) advanced to the pod final with a 17-5 win over No. 4 Endicott College on Saturday.

NEWPORT, R.I. - In the bottom of the 13th inning, Salve Regina University junior Zack Smith (New Canaan, Conn.) blooped a single to shallow right center that brought home freshman Anthony Cieszko (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) from second base with the winning run as the Seahawks outlasted the Gulls of Endicott College, 6-5, in the Pod A Final of the 2018 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships.

The winner of Pod A Final faces the winner of Pod B final (No. 3 Western New England or No. 6 Gordon) this weekend with the higher seed remaining hosting a best-of-three series Friday and Saturday.

The first-ever McAuley Cup was given in honor of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy - who founded Salve Regina, to the 2017-18 Salve Regina men's ice hockey team.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University director of athletics Jody Mooradian bestowed dozens of awards to student-athletes and staff on Friday evening, including the department's female and male athletes of the year - senior Amber Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) of field hockey, and junior Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) of men's ice hockey.

Salve Regina jumps into driver's seat with 17-5 victory

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Alex Perry (No. Attleboro, Mass.) slugged a pair of two-run homers and drove in six runs as the top-seeded Seahawks bested the No. 4 Gulls of Endicott College in Game 3 action of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) baseball championships at Reynolds Field in Newport. Endicott (25-15) had a 15-3 victory over No. 5 Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology earlier in the day on the Seahawk campus. The Gulls and Leopards (13-17) will meet tomorrow on Reynolds Field in an elimination game (11 a.m.) with the winner facing the unbeaten Seahawks (24-13) in a pod final (2:30 p.m.) of the double-elimination tournament. An "if necessary" game would be played Monday (3:30 p.m.) at Salve Regina.

Salve Regina has 10 honorees to lead the CCC.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its 2018 Baseball All-Conference Teams and major award winners Friday morning. All nine CCC baseball schools had at least one representative on this year's All-CCC list. Salve Regina and Western New England each had 10 honorees to lead the group.
