NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Caroline Norton was selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference female runner of the week on Tuesday, as announced by conference commissioner Gregg Kaye. It was the sixth time this season that Norton has captured the award.

Seahawk seniors - Taylor Rosendale, Caroline Gildea, Caroline Norton - display the hardware they earned when Salve Regina captured the 2011 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Cross Country Championships. Norton finished first overall and was tabbed runner of the year. Salve Regina also earned the conference's sportsmanship award and helped first-year head coach David Kraszewski collect co-coach of the year honors.

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Salve Regina University women's cross country raced with Division I runners at the Central Connecticut State University and finished fifth at the CCSU Mini-Meet on Friday afternoon. The 3K race serves as the final tune-up for the Seahawks before the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship meet. Salve Regina posted a team score of 128, led by three Seahawks who finished in the top-25.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Every year Salve Regina's women's cross country team raises money for a cause that directly affects the runners personally. This year the girls are raising money for ovarian cancer awareness.

Salve Regina women's cross country scored 56 points at the Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College, giving the Seahawks a share of the team championship with Saint Anselm College. Seahawk senior Caroline Norton raced ahead of the pack and finished first out of 270 runners with a time of 19:13. It was her second first-place finish in four races this season.

The Seahawks defeated 14 other schools in the meet, including Commonwealth Coast (CCC) foes such as the Univerity of New England, Curry College, and Eastern Nazarene College.

Senior Caroline Norton led the Salve Regina University women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Smith College Invitational. Norton ran the 5k course in 20:55 which placed her 12th overall.
