Shipman leads Seahawks at Brown Bear Invitational

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Bre Shipman (New Canaan, Conn.) set the pace as Salve Regina squared off against NIRCA and USATF teams in the Brown Bear Invitational on Saturday. The sophomore raced to the third-fastest 6K of her career on the former golf course at Highland Park. 

Junior Olivia Forbes (North Attleboro, Mass.), sophomore Avery Braccia (Bristol, Conn.), senior Paige McDade (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.), junior Kaelyn Fidrocki (Weymouth, Mass.) ran in scoring roles for Salve Regina, with junior Lindsey Sirois (Washington Twp, N.J.) and senior Taryn Terracino (Brookfield, Conn.) completing the team's varsity seven.  

The Battle Road Track Club, an elite, post-collegiate racing team, claimed a commanding victory in USATF competition. Battle Road placed seven runners among the first eight finishers, including a 1-2-3 finish from Lily Robinson, Sarika Temme-Bapat and Jenna Solimine. Robinson was the overall winner, finishing at 22:48.42.

Northeastern University won the team title in NIRCA competition. Rose McDonnell, Bonnie McFeat and Caroline Meehan led the Huskies to victory, finishing at Nos. 13, 18 and 19 in the open race and Nos. 2, 4 and 5 in NIRCA results. Emma Slavin of the University of Connecticut was the top NIRCA runner, crossing the finish line at 23:47.84.
