NEWPORT, R.I. – Seniors Emma Cote (Milford, Conn.), Izabella Kuczorski (Simsbury, Conn.), Morgan Stewart (Lebanon, Conn.) and Paige McDade (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) have been appointed captains of the women's cross country team at Salve Regina University.

Stewart is an incumbent captain, having served on the leadership team in 2021. While injuries have limited her racing appearances, Stewart has played an essential role in day-to-day team operations. She is an honest, outspoken leader who advocates on behalf of her teammates.

McDade, who also served as a captain in 2021, leads by example. She is a calm, consistent presence at practice and in competition. McDade has represented Salve Regina in 12 meets, including two USATF New England Cross Country Championships.

Cote is easily the most outgoing individual on the team. She is a friendly, engaging leader who makes her teammates feel welcome and appreciated. Cote has represented Salve Regina in 11 meets, including a USATF New England Cross Country Championship. She was the program's Rookie of the Year in 2019.

Kuczorski has distinguished herself with her work ethic, positive attitude and sense of humor. Joining the team as a former rower with no prior competitive running experience, Kuczorski earned a varsity role in her first full season with the Seahawks. She has represented Salve Regina in seven meets, including the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship. Kuczorski shared the program's Most Improved Runner award in 2021.

"Emma, Izabella, Morgan and Paige each bring something unique and valuable to their leadership roles, and I am confident that they will set the right tone for their teammates this year," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "They represent our program incredibly well. I could not ask for a better group of captains."

The Seahawks open the 2022 season with a meet against Gordon and Endicott on Sept. 1.
