NEWPORT, R.I. - Behind a career-high 21 kills from junior outside hitter Brighton Solheim (Phoenix, Ariz.) the Salve Regina University women's volleyball team defeated University of New England 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 29-27) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

Series and Streaks: Seahawks lead 15-7 and have won 14 in a row.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Salve Regina won the first two sets, dropped the third, then trailed 23-18 used a 6-1 run to knot things up 24-24 in the fourth.
  • Tied at 27-27 a Nor'easter service error follwoed by a kill for Madison Lee gave Salve Regina the four-set victory.
  • Sienna DeCicco reset her career-high for assists with 46 tonight for the Seahawks.
  • Solheim added seven digs and an ace to her 21 kills.
  • Meaghan Corkery logged 11 kills on a .385 swing percentage along with 3.5 blocks to aid the Seahawks scoring.
  • Kate Murphy's 12 digs and Madison Lee's 10 anchored the Seahawks defense.

Salve Regina travels to face Wellesley on Thursdaym, October 20, in a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
