PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team took both its matches today in a tri-match with Regis College and Johnson & Wales University.

The Seahawks defeated the Pride 3-1 (27-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20) then swept the host Wildcats 3-0 (29-27, 25-18, 25-19).

Birghton Solheim logged a double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs, both match-highs, for Salve Regina versus Regis while setter Sienna DeCicco reset her career-high for assists with 41 and added 12 digs.

Against the Wildcats graduate student Madison Lee led the attack for the Seahawks with 16 kills striking at a .324 clip while Kate Murphy and Solheim anchored the defense with 11 digs apiece. DeCicco dished out 34 helpers in the sweep as well.

"Tri-match weekends can be so exciting because there's a certain grit you need to win two matches, especially when your matches are back-to-back," said head coach Sebastian Noordzy. "Salve showed that grit today playing very well against Regis and Johnson & Wales. We were able to score a bunch of points against Regis attacking and on the service line to come out with a four-set win and against a very fast and offensive Wildcats team, we were able to find points in many different ways and minimize silly errors to secure the sweep. Great team effort from Salve Regina volleyball!"

Salve Regina (10-5) had won five matches in a row and returns to action on Tuesday, October 4, with a road match versus Roger Williams University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
