CCC Rookie of the Week: Lauren Hoyle

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Lauren Hoyle (Albany, N.Y.) as its Rookie of the Week for women's volleyball.

Hoyle had a pair of career nights this week for the Seahawks as they went 2-1. She started the week with a then season-high 14 kills in a 3-1 victory over UMass Dartmouth. After a four-kill performance against No. 22 nationally-ranked Babson, she set a new career-high with 18 kills in a CCC four-setter against Nichols. She hit .292 for the week and averaged 3.3 points per set.

"Lauren seems to get better week after week," said head coach Sebastian Noordzy. "This week she shattered her career bests with a 14 kill performance versus UMass Dartmouth and an 18 kill performance against Nichols. She is making great strides in her blocking, changing hitters attack selections and helping our defense get more quality digs. We're excited with how Lauren has developed into an important piece of our offense!" 

Salve Regina (6-5, 1-0 CCC) hosts Connecticut College on Tuesday, September 27, at 6 p.m.
