CCC Libero of the Week: Kate Murphy

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University senior Kate Murphy (Dover, N.H.) as its Libero of the Week for women's volleyball.

Murphy had an impressive defensive performance this week for Salve Regina as the Seahawks went 2-1. She opened the week with 22 digs in a 3-1 win over UMass Dartmouth before recording 15 in a 3-0 sweep against No. 22 nationally-ranked Babson. She concluded the week with 28 digs in a four-set victory over Nichols. For the week, she averaged 5.91 digs per set and also had five total assists.

"Kate is lights out most weeks, and this week was no different," said head coach Sebastian Noordzy. "She's been our best passer and best defender and that doesn't change based on the level of our opponents. Against a nationally ranked Babson squad she had a great game, keeping us competitive with zero receive errors and 15 digs and she was just as impactful versus UMass Dartmouth and Nichols. Kate continues to impress everyone in the gym week after week." 

Salve Regina (6-5, 1-0 CCC) hosts Connecticut College on Tuesday, September 27, at 6 p.m.
