Cox, Rickard and Pereira to serve as 2023-24 captains

NEWPORT, R.I.-- Maddie Cox (graduate) returns as women's ice hockey captain for the second season in a row and will be assisted by Jennifer Rickard (senior) and Emma Pereira (junior) as announced by head coach David Lun.

"This is a strong group with a good sense for leadership and comradery," said Lun. "They work well together and have a good sense of the progress we have made as a program, and the direction we still want to travel. Together they are good representatives of the student athletes that make up the Salve women's hockey program." 

Maddie Cox has been a member of the team since 2019. Over the course of her Salve Regina career she has played in 77 games. She has scored 16 goals and had 14 assists. impressively, Cox is credited with four game winning goals and two hat tricks. 

Joining Cox is Jennifer Rickard and Emma Pereira. Rickard comes to came to Salve Regina from Coventry, Rhode Island where she played ice hockey at the Winchendon School. Since 2020 she has played in 49 games, made three goals and had seven assists. Pereira came to the Seahawks in 2021 from Easton, Massachusetts. She has played in 45 games, made three goals and had eight assists.
