Salve Regina tops Curry and Nichols in preseason poll

BEVERLY, Mass.-- Based on league coaches votes, the Salve Regina women's ice hockey team was ranked fifth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference preseason poll released on Monday, October 23. 

The Seahawks finished ahead of Curry College (No. 6) and Nichols College (No. 7). No.1 Suffolk University received four first place votes, No. 2 Endicott College received two first place votes and Salve Regina received one first place vote.  

Last year the Seahawks finished out the season 6-12 in the CCC and 11-14 overall. Returner, Riley Esposito '26 was the leading goal scorer in 2022 with 12 goals. Returning goalie, Sydney Baxter '26 made 303 total saves.

Women's ice hockey begins their official season on Saturday, October 28 at home on the St. George's School ice. The team will take on Johnson & Wales University, a program the Seahawks saw in a preseason exhibition game just last week.
